Take advantage of the many outstanding learning and certification opportunities provided by the Girl Scouts organization, many given at no cost to you. Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson (GSHH) provides quality courses delivered by skilled and enthusiastic volunteer trainers in various locations throughout the council. The courses you take as an adult volunteer will assist you in providing the best growth experiences for girls. The volunteer development managers and volunteer trainers are eager to assist you.
Required training for leaders must be completed (and documented on the Leader’s Training Card) for troops to meet and participate in activities.
New Leaders must attend a Community Orientation, complete a background check, do the online learning from the Troop Start-Up Guide and attend a Volunteer Essentials Webinar training course.
At least one adult at every meeting, trip or activity must be certified in First Aid and CPR.
If you take your troop for an overnight in a cabin or a girl scout house, one leader must have Overnight Indoor Training.
Any camping trip, where you will be cooking outside, requires Overnight Outdoor Training.
